Canada's first gold on home soil

"O Canada" at last. A day after American Hannah Kearney pulled the rug out from under Canada's hope for the first ever gold medal on home soil, besting Canadian Jennifer Heil on the final run of the day, Canada finally has the monkey off their back. Alexandre Bilodeau took gold in the men's moguls event under the lights at Cyprus Mountain. Defending Olympic champion Dale Begg-Smith of Australia was silver; American Bryon Wilson took bronze.
