Tyson Gay is crazy. Well, OK, not crazy. Delusional. He told Spike Magazine that he not only wants to beat Usain Bolt in the 100m race (which is possible), but he wants to beat his world record (the delusional part). Bolt's world record of 9.58 seconds is an absurd time. He took .11 seconds off his previous world record, which was the biggest drop since they started using electronic timing in 1977. Gay's best is 9.71. Even if Gay were somehow able to get down to 9.58 (which he won't), He's 27 years old. Bolt is 23. The Jamaican could easily have already lowered the world record even further before Gay gets to his old mark.
It's nice to dream, but making these delusional statements can only fuel the fire in Bolt. Here's hoping Lightning can hit 9.49!
