The Baylor Lady Bears women’s basketball team became the first college basketball team to record a 40-0 record, crushing Notre Dame for the national championship Tuesday night, 80-61. Their run through the 2011-12 season was as impressive as any in college sports history. They had only four games decided by single digits. They knocked off perennial powerhouses Connecticut, Tennessee (twice) and Stanford; And they beat last year’s two finalists, Notre Dame (twice) and Texas A&M (three times). They were head and shoulders above every other team, and their national championship was a fitting end to the season.

Congratulations to Baylor (even if they did knock off Stanford along the way).
