Thomas Finchum came up short in his attempt to make the U.S. Olympic diving team and has announced his retirement from the sport to pursue a country music career. Things turned out better at the the diving trials in Federal Way, Wash., for Troy Dumais, Chris Colwill, Nick McCrory and Kristian Ipsen, all of whom qualified for a trip to London (photos below).

Finchum, 22, finished fourth Sunday in the men's 3-meter springboard after failing to qualify in the 10-meter platform and tweeted: "After 13 years my diving career is finally over…. #bittersweet. Now it's time to chase some new dreams with @Northern_Nights."

Boudia won the 10-meter and Colwill the 3-meter, with McCrory and Dumais second in each, earning them an Olympic bid. Boudia and McCrory won the spot in the 10-meter synchro and Ipsen and Dumais in the 3-meter synchro.

The women's team: Synchro, 3-meter: Kelci Bryant, Abby Johnston; 10-meter platform: Ashley Buchter and Natalie Kalibat. Individual, 3-meter: Cassidy Krug, Christina Loukas, Riverwoods. Ill./Indiana University; 10-meter: Brittany Viola (the daughter of former Twins pitcher Frank Viola) and Katie Bell.
