Beach volleyball tournament this August to benefit L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Young Professionals Council (YPC) is hitting the sand for the fourth annual YPC Beach Volleyball Classic at Will Rogers State Beach on Saturday, Aug. 11.

The tournament benefits the Center and volleyball players of all skill levels are welcome! Each team of six to eight players has a choice between recreational play (for more casual players) and competitive play (for more serious players). Don’t have a team? Participants can register as an individual and be placed on a team. Companies can also sponsor a team that bears the name of their business; they can organize the team or the Center will match them with one.

“What’s better than a summer day at the beach, hitting the volleyball courts and soaking up the sun?” says Dustin Church, fundraising chair for the YPC, a group of dedicated young professionals who promote support for the Center through volunteer work and fundraising initiatives. “And it’s all to support the Center’s programs and services for the LGBT community!”

All participants get a free event T-shirt and snacks and drinks while they’re playing. Following the tournament, players will be guests at our exclusive after-party presented by Revolver, featuring hosted drinks and the presentation of fantastic awards/prizes.

Special prizes (including a chance to win the newest iPad) and awards will be presented to teams in these categories:

  • Top Fundraising Team
  • Top Fundraising Individual
  • Winner of the Recreational Division
  • Winner of the Competitive Division
  • Best Themed/Dressed Team

Customizable web tools make it simple for each team to meet their $1,000 fundraising goal. Depending on the size of the team, it amounts to only $125-$250/person!
