Two big, historic news items this week in soccer and basketball. Robbie Rogers became the first openly gay athlete to play in a Major League Soccer game on Sunday, then Jallen Messersmith became the first active college basketball player to come out publicly. Are these guys changing the face of sports or a reflection of change that’s already happened? Whichever it is, they’re providing inspiration for others looking for the courage to come out in their own lives.
