Pro football Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath visited HuffPost Live and talked about his perspective on gay people. While he said he never played with a gay teammate that he knows of, he loves and supports gay people.

I have friends that are gay. I've worked in theater, I've been in art, you know, for some time. We work shoulder to shoulder. There's a lot of love from me to them too. That's life, you know. And if you've got a hangup about it, I hope you can get over it because it's real.

Namath was the MVP of Super Bowl III when the New York Jets shocked the Baltimore Colts, considered one of the greatest upsets in American sports history (the Colts were favored by 18 points). He was also the subject of pantyhose commercials that helped turn "Broadway Joe" into a pop icon (check it out below).
