The University of Miami Hurricanes have issued a powerful statement of inclusion, releasing a You Can Play video that includes members of all the school’s varsity sports, including head football coach Al Golden, women’s basketball coach Katie Meier and men’s basketball coach Jim Larranaga. The video features athletes of various ethnicities and nationalities with the clever tagline, “If U can play, U can play.”
The school is celebrating You Can Play at the Hurricane's women's basketball game vs. NC State, Sunday, Jan. 19, at 2pm.
You Can Play is part of the LGBT Sports Coalition, which aims to end anti-LGBT bias in sports by 2016.
