Robbie Rogers book excerpt
In an exclusive excerpt from Robbie Rogers' memoir, 'Coming Out To Play,' the gay Major League Soccer player talks about learning as a child what made him different from the other boys - and the role of My Little Pony.
Fresh off his big MLS Cup win, Robbie Rogers is hitting a mini pre-holiday book tour this week. The book couldn't have been timed better with the Galaxy's fifth MLS Cup and Rogers becoming the first publicly out gay male athlete to win a pro team sports title in the U.S.
That last bit wasn't lost on Rogers yesterday in the locker room after the game.
"I remember the last time this it was here and it was totally different circumstances and I couldn't enjoy it," Rogers said, covered in beer and champagne. "I remember being just all right with it. The emotion I had after the game today I can't explain. It's been such a long journey and for it to end this way and to share it with these guys on the field has been amazing."
