You will read a lot about Jason Collins suiting up for the Brooklyn Nets, including Cyd's comments here. But the photo above says it all: An openly gay player took the court in an NBA game in the second quarter in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Collins was greeted by polite applause and some fans standing, but it was, in the word of a New York Times reporter friend of mine, "rather ho-hum." Good. Let's hope ho-hum becomes the default response on this issue in a few years.
