The Los Angeles Lakers have announced the finalists for the January 2015 Lakers Youth Foundation YOU Grant, and they include an organization helping LGBT youth.

Village Family Services is a non-profit in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles that offers services to various under-served segments of society, including LGBT youth. By voting on the Lakers' grant, you can help them win $5,000 to help fund these services:

Help us provide supportive services to at-risk, foster, LGBTQ and homeless youth. Our Drop-In Center provides showers, laundry, counseling, health & wellness activities, and housing. This grant would allow us to provide more than 1,000 homeless and at-risk Transition Age Youth (TAY) between the ages of 14 to 24 with vocational supportive services, mentoring and career counseling. We would purchase computers and printers to create a cyber-center that would allow our staff to assist with resume building and job searches; we would provide one-on-one mentoring which would include honing interview skills; and we would provide appropriate attire to wear to job interviews.

Please do head over to the Lakers' grant site and vote for Village Family Services. The poll is at the bottom of the page.
