MLB Network Presents will premiere its final installment of the offseason on Tuesday, February 10 at 9pmET with The Story of Billy Bean, a one-hour documentary hosted by Bob Costas about former outfielder Billy Bean's experience as one of just two Major League Baseball players – current or former – to publicly come out as gay. Bean currently works with Major League Baseball on diversity issues.

MLB Network senior coordinating producer Bruce Cornblatt shared with us a couple thoughts on the piece:

"There are two takeaways I'd like to convey. First – which is the reason I wanted to do the documentary – is how much of Billy Bean's story we don't know. He came to MLB Network [in December] and addressed us all, and I was amazed and moved by how many things big and small I didn't know. He was so passionate and articulate and open about his life, it made the producer in me know immediately this was a story that should be told in a documentary: a story of sports, family, and present-tense resonance.

"Secondly, what made his story go from very interesting to another level was the end, the twist that made his journey more compelling. Billy now works for Major League Baseball as their first Ambassador for Inclusion, so he now works for a place that he spent much of his adult life hiding a secret from. That is some story!"
