Continuing on the quest it started six months ago with its #OneTeam initiative, the Canadian Olympic Committee will host an international roundtable on LGBT inclusion in sport this Thursday. The roundtable features various panels and conversations focused on identifying challenges to change in sport and solutions to advancing that change on LGBT issues. The sessions will feature athletes, activists, corporations and power brokers in sport.

The roundtable is being hosted by the Candian Olympic Committee in conjunction with the Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto, You Can Play and Egale Canada. Outsports will be there blogging and tweeting about the sessions.

In addition, this Thursday features University College's 2015 Bonham Centre Awards Gala, which recognizes "individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to the advancement and education of human rights issues surrounding sexual orientation."

The gala will honor three LGBT Olympians who came out after retirement, all of whom have focused on providing insight and inspiration to LGBT athletes and sports organizations today:

  • Mark Tewksbury, Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist, 100 metre backstroke, 1992; Chef de Mission, 2012 Olympics
  • Greg Louganis, American Olympic gold medalist diver, 1984, 1988
  • Marnie McBean, Canadian Gold Medalist rower, 1992, 1996

Back on Board, a documentary about the life and diving career of Greg Louganis, will also be showing Wednesday night at St. Michael's College. Tickets are $15 at the door.
