NASCAR (National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing) has announced today that their top two premiere series will be remembering the victims of the June 12th tragedy that took place at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida this weekend.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series are both competing this weekend at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The #ORLANDOUNITED decal will be placed on the A-Post of all cars in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Along with the decal placement, the NASCAR Foundation has also made a $25,000 donation to OneOrlando, an organization that is providing support for the victims' families.
NASCAR has come out in support of the LGBT community in past. Recently, NASCAR Chairman Brian France announced they do not support HB2 in North Carolina, where most of the teams shops are located, and also didn't support Indiana's religious freedom law in 2015.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coke Zero 400 is this Saturday night (July 2nd) at 7:45pm Eastern and the NASCAR Xfinity Series Firecracker 250 is this Friday night (July 1st) at 7:30pm Eastern at Daytona International Speedway.
