Pita Taufatofua competes in taekwondo and looked really good carrying the Tonga flag shirtless in the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympics.

His name is Pita Taufatofua, and chances are you noticed him carrying the flag for Tonga in the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in Rio Friday night. Going shirtless in the warm Brazilian evening, he caught a lot of people's attention.

Taufatofua competes in taekwondo in the Olympics, in the over 80kg class. He is the first athlete from Tonga to ever compete in taekwondo in the Olympic Games.

But you won't see much of him in the coming days. His competition is not until Saturday, Aug. 20; It doesn't get much later than that. It makes it all the more cool that he carried the Tongan flag, given he must now wait and train in Rio for his competition.

Last year it was (then-closeted) gay swimmer Amini Fonua who carried the flag for Tonga in the Opening Ceremony. Fonua competes on Saturday, Aug. 4, in the 100-meter breaststroke.
