Nike has created a special disco-and-rainbow-inspired shoe for Elton John, the likes of which we are praying make it to the market.
"The Nike AF1 Jet is a one-of-a-kind sneaker created to say thank you to Elton for his commitment to diversity and inclusion, and his long-standing relationship with Nike," Nike said in a statement, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
The shoes are inspired by a disco ball, fitting for the man who wore bird costumes and the like while entertaining the masses in the Seventies. The shoes also have a BeTrue-esque rainbow along the soul, in addition to the BeTrue logo on the tongue, to reflect John’s commitment to (and membership in) the LGBT community.
If I could get my hands on a pair, I’d grab them in a heartbeat:
Nike’s BeTrue line will again be hitting stores later this spring in honor of LGBT Pride month.
John has had a relationship with the sportswear company for decades, dating back to the 1970s when the often garish entertainer would wear other specially designed sneakers.
