Outsports and One Colorado will co-host Pride Night at Coors Field on Friday, June 16, to kick off Pride Weekend in Denver. The Major League Baseball game that night features the Colorado Rockies taking on the San Francisco Giants at 6:40pm.
The event is part of the 2017 Outsports Reunion, this year being held in Denver.
"Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people are skilled athletes who play at all levels of sports, from youth teams to the Olympics,” said Daniel Ramos, executive director, One Colorado. “When teams, like the Colorado Rockies, have these events, it makes a statement — especially to young people — that they can be involved in sports and be LGBTQ. You never know the impact these games have on young fans by showing them they belong."
The Pride Night seats are in sections near The Rooftop at Coors Field, which is a popular gathering place before and during Rockies games.
The official after party for Pride Night at the Rockies will be part of Mile High Party Weekend, held after the game at City Hall, 1144 Broadway.
Pride Night at Coors Field also falls during the 2017 Outsports Reunion, which will bring together LGBT athletes, coaches, trainers, administrators and others in sports for a weekend of storytelling and community-building.
