Phillips won the AFLW award despite not having played competitive Aussie Rules Football since 2004. She was signed late last year by the Adelaide Crows and decided to give the sport a go in the WNBA offseason. It also allows her to follow summer around the world.

Phillips is married to Tracy Gahan, who gave birth to twins last November.

Phillips has won two WNBA championships, one with the Indiana Fever in 2012 and the other with Brittney Griner and the Phoenix Mercury in 2014.
