Gay Australian track athletes Craig Burns and Luke Sullivan married shortly after midnight Tuesday morning as the country legalized same-sex unions.

The couple — who got engaged wearing swimsuits — dressed more conservatively for their marriage, which was witnessed by 50 guests on an estate in New South Wales.

“It’s another way to show your love and appreciation of your partner in front of the people in your life,” Burns said. Sullivan said he has been bombarded with well-wishes on his social media.

Celebrant Sarah May Alexander told the media “the couple have been dream clients, taking just minutes to make important decisions like what suits to wear.”

”It’s been the opposite of anything bridezilla — they have been a dream team,” she said.

The two men have postponed their honeymoon until after April, since both are training for the Commonwealth Games, which take place this year in Australia. It would be cool if they both qualify and can attend as a married couple.

It being historic, the wedding attracted a lot of media (it was shown in the U.S. on BBC News) and resulted in some great images.
