Adam Rippon, the openly gay figure skater who won the hearts of Americans and beyond during the Winter Olympics, will be making an appearance at the Oscars.
He and Access shared the news on Wednesday. Adam also posted about it on Instagram saying, “@accessonline has invited me to the Oscars and I cannot wait to go.”
What his role will be for Access (formerly Access Hollywood) hasn’t yet been announced.
He said fellow American skater Mirai Nagasu was also invited.
If it’s the two of them interviewing people on the red carpet, this could be epic.
Rippon lit up social media, traditional media and the Olympic skating venue with his authentic personality over the last couple of weeks. Now he’ll lend his glitter and glam to the red carpet of the Oscars.
The Olympian is expected to ink enough endorsement deals to make Jimmy Kimmel jealous. That is, if corporate America follows … America.
The 90th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC on Sunday, March 4 from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Calif. One sports angle to the Oscars this year is ‘I, Tonya,’ which some people have loved but others, like Johnny Weir, have slammed for “glamorizing” the Nineties scandal. ‘Call Me Be Your Name,’ about two men’s summer of love, is also nominated for several awards. ‘The Shape Of Water’ led all nominees with 13 nominations.
