When the Colorado Rapids of the MLS hold their LGBT Pride game Saturday, June 23, against Minnesota United, it will be a case of one type of football helping another.

A portion of every ticket sold by the Denver-based soccer team will go to help benefit Gay Bowl XVIII, the annual LGBT flag football championships to be held this year in Denver.

A Pride ticket package for the Rapids game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park costs $35 and will get a fan a ticket to the game and a Pride scarf (see above).

This year’s Gay Bowl will also be held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park from Sept. 13-16.

The Rapids are one of 17 MLS teams to be holding Pride nights this year. June is by far the most popular month for the games, though they run as late as August. Of the National Women’s Soccer League, all the teams except one — the Washington Spirit — have such a night.
