Lexie Gerson has been named the new head women’s basketball coach at Harcum College. Gerson was an assistant coach with the team last season.

The former Univ. of Virginia basketball player has been coaching for the last few years. Before Harcum College she was an assistant coach at Arcadia University. Before that she played professionally in Israel. With the Cavaliers she was known for her defensive play, earning ACC All-Defensive Team both her junior and senior seasons.

“It’s an honor and I am extremely humbled to have such a great opportunity present itself so early in my career,” Gerson told Outsports. “I couldn’t be more excited to give my heart and soul to the future of this program.”

Harcam College is a two-year school that competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Gerson has found acceptance as an out coach during her young career, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that she has highlighted values like love and respect as cornerstones of her team.

“I plan to build this program on a foundation of discipline, selflessness, hard work, respect, and love,” Gerson said. “We will empower our student-athletes to become strong leaders of the future. My vision is for Harcum to compete at a national level athletically while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of success in the classroom.”

Last year the team finished the regular season with an 18-12 record.
