Time once again for Outsports to stop the clock for an instant reply of the week that was. It’s my way of memorializing the glorious victories, the ignominious defeats, and the players and personalities who made them, lived them or just couldn’t avoid them.

I realize my roster may differ from yours, and I welcome your comments, contributions and critiques. I read them all! Details on how to reach me are below, after our look at the week’s winners and losers.

LOSER: ‘South Park’ goes transphobic just in time for Trans Week

LOSER: NWSL’s New Spending Mechanism: “Allocation Money”

For the first time in the history of the National Women’s Soccer League, it has decided to introduce a new concept allows team owners to spend more money acquiring big stars. But to the U.S. Women’s National team, the new compensation rules are yet another slap in the face, all because of this stipulation: “Allocation money may not be used for Canadian or U.S. allocated players.” That means USWNT players who have contractually committed to the NWSL since its inception won’t see a dime.

WINNERS: USWNT stars Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris look back at their days in D.C.

The engaged soccer stars clashed frequently with Washington Spirit part owner Bill Lynch over policies they called homophobic.

WINNERS: Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi tell intense story of playing for Russian spy due to low WNBA wages

WINNER: Gay college swimmer inspired by boyfriend to come out
