While many WNBA players are playing overseas following the end of the season in October, the Los Angeles Sparks’ Chelsea Gray has stayed home. And not just to spend the offseason with USA Basketball’s college tour, but for her all-star wedding this past weekend.
Among the many guests at the wedding were Gray’s teammate Candace Parker, former Sparks player Ify Ibekwe, and the Chicago Sky’s Jantel Lavender. The ceremony took place at the Bel Air Bay Club in L.A. on Saturday afternoon.
Her wife, Tipesa Mercedes Moorer, is also a native Californian and basketball player, who played forward on the women’s basketball team at California State University Long Beach. Moorer said of her then-girlfriend’s WNBA career in an Instagram post from August,
I admire her drive to be better, her accountability in every failure, and her desire to prove why she’s one of the best. So when you see me acting crazy on the sidelines and cussing out the refs (rightfully so) understand that I’ll always be an advocate for her goals (and FOULS), a fan in all her success, and passionate about her passions.
