The story of Scott Frantz is much like many an NFL draft hopeful: he played tough, he won big, and as a starter helped his Kansas State Wildcats team to finish fourth of 10 teams in their conference.

The difference is, Frantz did that as an out gay man. And he did it with the full support of his legendary coach and his fellow Wildcats.

Frantz is poised to join Michael Sam as the only openly gay NFL draftee. If he makes a team, Frantz will be the first openly gay player on an NFL regular-season roster. We’ll be watching.
