Outsports is teaming up with tennis writer and commentator Nick McCarvel for a series of conversations this month with LGBTQ people in tennis.

You can view the entire series on Outsports’ Instagram TV Channel.

McCarvel created #LGBTennis as a series of conversations, so far largely at Grand Slam events, to elevate the conversation in the sport about inclusion.

He’ll host these virtual conversations on Outsports’ Instagram Live, over the next two weeks, the next one being with former WTA player Megan Moulten-Levy, tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET.

“We’ve had great success with the #LGBTennis series since its inception in August of 2018 at the U.S. Open,” McCarvel said. “Since then, we have done five events in total, including two at the U.S. and Australian Opens, and last year at Wimbledon, where Billie Jean King was our keynote speaker.

“The idea for taking #LGBTennis online was in an effort to celebrate Pride Month while the tennis tour is on hiatus, bringing these stories to life for the digital audience.”

The schedule will feature various people across tennis:

Other speakers may be announced at a later date.

“We’re lucky that we have trailblazers like Billie Jean and Martina Navratilova,” McCarvel said, “but we’re still a long way from where we should be as a sport in terms of awareness around these issues and, frankly, many others that have been brought to the fore over the last few weeks in our society.”

You’ll be able to watch the conversation via Outsports’ Instagram Live.
