“EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch UK,” the popular LGBTQ pro wrestling showcase’s expansion into the British pro wrestling scene, is back for the second year in a row and promises to be bigger than ever.
In association with Liverpool-based promotion TNT Extreme Wrestling, “EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch UK” will take over the entire weekend on Sept. 28-29. The “Rainbow Rumble” event, headlined by a rumble-style battle royal featuring many of the U.K.’s top out LGBTQ grapplers, will open the queer festivities on Sept. 28 with the second-annual “EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch UK” taking place the following evening.
If that isn’t enough wrestling for you, TNT Extreme itself will hold an additional two events during the weekend. Its offshoot brand Ignition will open the entire weekend Saturday afternoon and TNT Extreme’s “Nation Of Collaboration” event is scheduled to matinee on Sunday. All four events will take place at Liverpool’s Fusion Nightclub.
Get off the sidelines and into the game
Our weekly newsletter is packed with everything from locker room chatter to pressing LGBTQ sports issues.
Though the jam-packed wrestling weekend is still more than a month away, multiple headlining matches featuring out queer pro wrestlers have already been announced. The “Rainbow Rumble” will see out pro wrestler Allie Katch challenge Lizzy Evo for the TNT Extreme Women’s championship and EFFY battle former TNT Extreme World champion Charles Crowley in a EFFY’s Gay Dungeon match.
Out pro wrestler Zizi is set for a TNT Ignition Women’s championship bout with Lucy Sky as well. Other talents announced for the weekend include Dark Sheik, TNT Extreme Tag Team champs Lykos Gym, Emersyn Jayne and drag performer Kiki Inferno.
Last year’s event came amidst a huge growth in LGBTQ-led and LGBTQ-focused events within the U.K. in recent years. PCW and World Association of Wrestling held their third annual Pride wrestling events in recent months, True Grit Wrestling held its first ever Pride event in July and LGBTQ-led promotions Full Force Wrestling and Venom Championship Wrestling continue to produce regular events.
