Nick Wagman, a Team USA dressage rider who was an alternate at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, is celebrating 20 years with his husband.
Wagman posted a message on Facebook with a handsome photo of himself and husband Kurt Gering, himself a competitive athlete, with a message of the milestone for the couple.
And just like that, 20 years of marriage lived, loved, and experienced. I’m not always the most sentimental, but this really does seem like a milestone worth celebrating. I’m excited to finally go on our real honeymoon Saturday, but even more excited to see what the next 20 years have in store for us.

Nick Wagman, headed to the Tokyo Olympics, talks for the first time about being a gay athlete, married to his husband
Nick Wagman found refuge riding horses and growing up gay. Now he’s headed to the Olympics an out gay man.
By Cyd Zeigler | July 14, 2021
The two men have lived together in San Diego for two decades, the entirety of their relationship.
Wagman said he missed the 2024 Paris Olympics because of an injury to his horse. In fact, it was also an injury to his horse that forced him and Don John to withdraw from the Summer Olympics in 2021, even after arriving in Tokyo.
However, Wagman is still competing and hoping for a spot at the 2028 Summer Olympics, just up the I-5 in Los Angeles, which would be pretty special for someone hailing from Southern California.
Outsports sends the couple huge congratulations on two decades together. As someone who also recently passed 20 years with his husband, I hear from many in the gay community how rare it is. So kudos to Nick and Kurt.
