Update, 6:37pmET

ESPN spokesperson Josh Krulewitz sent us this comment: "In response to recent questions about Sam fitting in with the team, the Rams brought up the shower topic and we relayed that information as part of our reporting."

We did not mean to say that ESPN was trying to be sensationalist about this or grab headlines. We believe they were reporting on something they felt was interesting, not necessarily to get Internet clicks.

Original story

Josina Anderson of ESPN filed a report on SportsCenter today talking at length about whether or not Michael Sam is showering with his teammates. She apparently engaged several St. Louis Rams players in asking questions about whether Sam was showering with them. Various players said they hadn’t noticed or thought about it, though at least one player thought Sam was “respecting our space” and avoiding some of the guys in the shower.

No one has reported any issues about Sam and being around his teammates. In fact, many of the Rams players seem to be embracing him. Chris Long for one has made it a point to give Sam pointers. When he sacked Johnny Manziel in their latest preseason game agains the Cleveland Browns, the Rams sideline erupted. Many players have openly supported him, as has the coaching staff and front office.

Yet Anderson reduces Sam to a side show who has to tiptoe around the showers. Pathetic.
