brianftl.jpgBoth of the out swimmers we profiled last week competed in the Olympic Trials on July 4, with one getting a personal record. Purdue swimmer Andrew Langenfeld recorded a 54.80 in the 100-meter fly, which was his personal best (beating his old best by 0.30 seconds). He finished 55th out of 105 swimmers in the heats. He’s now looking forward to a vacation in Mexico and focusing on his senior season at Purdue.

Brian Jacobson (right) finished 49th of 113 swimmers in the time trials in the 50-meter free with a time of 23.13 seconds, which was 0.11 seconds behind his record-setting performance at the IGLA championships two weeks before. Born in 1973, he was the second oldest swimmer in the event and one of the oldest swimmers at the entire Trials; pretty great to finish where he did. -Cyd Zeigler jr.
