GForce Hockey Club
Ice Hockey
Founded: 2006

GForce is a collection of elite gay hockey players from across the country. We compete at an exceptional level against primarily straight opponents while working to deconstruct negative stereotypes both on and off the ice. Our team travels to tournaments around the country including our annual flagship event, a gay vs. straight competition at Aspen Gay Ski Week called the “Friendship Cup”. GForce has also produced a documentary on our mission and organized educational panels with celebrity athletes discussing gays in sports. GForce believes that ignorance and intolerance must be eliminated from sports that involve so many children and adults. We envision a culture in which players of all ages in all sports are respected for their talent and their attitude.
Cheer San Francisco
San Francisco, California
Founded: 1980

For nearly 30 years, Cheer San Francisco has been thrilling audiences locally, nationally, and internationally with our unique brand of high-energy stunt and dance routines. The only cheerleading team to have appeared at all seven Gay Games, Cheer SF has performed at a multitude of venues including the Presidential Inaugural Parades in 1997 and 2009. Cheer SF’s performances serve as means to raise monies for direct-care organizations serving individuals with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging conditions. In recent years, our total fundraising efforts grew in excess of $100,000, and in 2008 alone, we donated $30,000 to our partner non-profits. This has secured Cheer SF’s standing as the world’s largest, most visible, most fiscally successful, and longest running community-based non-profit cheerleading organization.
