We emphasize a safe, supportive learning environment for having fun and meeting other adventurous, environmentally caring gay and lesbians of California (and the world). |  Ski Bumsski-bums.org New York, New York Skiing / Snowboarding Founded: 2004 Ski Bums is the world’s largest club for gay & lesbian skiers and snowboarders. There’s no drama within our sport: our competition is with the mountain itself. In the past year, we’ve conquered the world’s most difficult terrain along the steeps of Chamonix, plunged down double-diamond black chutes in Big Sky, and flown through the powdery glades of Jackson Hole. We also hosted our first all-female trips in 2009. We love charity work. In 2008, we raised over $12,000 for AIDS Walk New York — and over $10,000 for Lambda Legal to fight for marriage equality. More than anything, Ski Bums is all about having fun, pushing yourself, and being yourself — in some of the world’s most spectacular places. |
