Outsports and Equality California are teaming up with the Los Angeles Clippers to bring the first LGBT-community night to the Staples Center. Equality Night with the Clippers will take place Wednesday, February 2, as the Clippers host the Chicago Bulls. The Clippers have been incredibly warm and welcoming as we’ve been planning the event, which is great to see. Tickets are just $20 and $40, depending on which section you want to sit in. You can buy tickets at the Clippers Web site here. Everyone who orders tickets by Jan. 20 will get a special Equality Night with the Clippers T-shirt.
Also join us at Gym Sportsbar on Sunday, Jan. 16, from noon-3pm to watch the Clippers take on the Lakers…plus NFL playoffs!
The game tips off at 7:30pm, and there will be a special cocktail reception for the game at the Staples Center starting at 6pm. We are working on the singer of the National Anthem! We will also have an organized dinner/drinks post-game at one of the restaurants at L.A. Live across the street from Staples Center.

Here’s the full press release sent out by the Clippers:
The Los Angeles Clippers, Equality California and Outsports.com are proud to announce “Equality Night With The Clippers,” the first-ever LGBT-themed night at Staples Center on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7:30pm as the Clippers take on the Chicago Bulls.
The Clippers are one of the first teams in the NBA to host an “Equality Night.” LGBT-themed events have been a part of Major League Baseball for the last decade.
“The fight for equality in California is an important one, and we are thrilled that the Clippers recognize the LGBT community as an equal and important part of their fan base,” said Mike Holtz of Equality California.
“These events are important opportunities for visibility in the professional sports world and I’m honored to work with the Clippers to bring it to fruition,” said Outsports.com’s Cyd Zeigler, who previously organized a similar event with the New York Mets.
Tickets for the event are $20 and $40 and are available through the Web at www.clippers.com/equality. A portion of the proceeds of each ticket go to Equality California. Everyone attending Equality Night with the Clippers will receive a t-shirt specially branded by the Clippers for the event.
