Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew are teaming up with gay publishers Outlook Media to put on a gay soccer tournament this July. As far as we know, it’s the first time an professional sports team in the U.S. has co-presented and hosted a gay sports tournament.

The one-day adult GLBT and allied soccer tournament scheduled for Saturday, July 23, at Crew stadium, the Pride Cup will feature up to eight (8) 10-person teams playing in a 6v6 format.
Play will take place from 12:30-4 p.m. on July 23, with an awards ceremony to follow. Ticket holders and participants will then stay for the Crew game that kicks off at 8 p.m. that evening, when the Black & Gold play host to the expansion Portland Timbers for the first time ever.
