A longtime voice for LGBT equality, Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita, has joined Athlete Ally's ambassador initiative. Fujita has been outspoken about equality for gay people since he spoke out for marriage equality in 2009. I interviewed Fujita shortly after; He was fantastic and has stayed on top of the fight for LGBT equality in sports ever since.
“To me, this issue just makes so much sense," Fujita said in an Athlete Ally statement. "I believe in respect and dignity, and equal treatment for all people. There are a lot of players out there who are way more accepting than people think, and I’m really excited to be a part of Athlete Ally and help show that. We have to make this a dialogue that’s ongoing.”

Fujita is the third current NFL player to join Athlete Ally in the last month, joining Vikings punter Chris Kluwe and Ravens special-teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo. What makes the addition of Fujita so powerful is his leadership role on his teams and in the league. It’s great to see he will continue to be a powerful voice in the movement.
