Barbara Walters and 20/20 revisited transgender tween Jazz in a fantastic special that aired this past Saturday. They previously did a segment on the cute girl five years ago; This was a follow-up that delves into some groundbreaking territory. Jazz was being prevented from playing youth soccer as a girl. She and her family forged a two-year battle, along with groups like the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and won Jazz the right to play with other girls after U.S. soccer clarified their policies to allow trans athletes.
Walters does a great job with Jazz, talking frankly with her and the family about dating, hormone therapy, playing soccer and her love of mermaids. What I love most is that Jazz looks and acts like any other girl her age. She reminds me a bit of my niece, who's also very pretty and gregarious.
