Neil Patrick Harris and CBS are being slammed by some Christians for the openly gay actor’s apparent nod to New York Jets “quarterback” Tim Tebow in a recent Super Bowl ad. In the commercial, NPH is seen wearing eye black with the date of the Super Bowl — Feb. 3, 3013 — written on it. Joe Kovacs wrote on the Christian site WND:

But CBS, the television network airing the big game this year, is now using an outspoken homosexual actor to mimic Tim Tebow’s style of trumpeting messages in eyeblack on his face.
Tim Tebow, known for his Christian faith as well as football, became world famous for proclaiming Bible verses such as John 3:16 on his eyeblack, especially when he played for the University of Florida Gators before going pro.
Many athletes have written words on their eye black. Reggie Bush famously wrote “619,” the San Diego area code he grew up in, on his eye black while at USC. That was before anyone had heard of Tebow. Oh, and Bush has actually played in — and won — a Super Bowl.
NPH is one of the network’s biggest stars, so it stands to reason that they would use him in a commercial promoting their biggest blockbuster of the year. But some people just don’t like that a “homosexual” would be used to promote the biggest game on earth.
