Former Florida State quarterback Chris Rix went on a radio show and suggested that fellow Seminole teammate Darnell Dockett is gay. Dockett, a defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals, went off on Rix on Twitter, promising "im whooping yo ass."

Deadspin has the full audio from Rix's appearance with comedian Jay Mohr, who asked Rix whether Dockett has always been so boisterous. Said Rix, now a college football analyst with Fox Sports:

Deadspin has the full audio from Rix’s appearance with comedian Jay Mohr, who asked Rix whether Dockett has always been so boisterous. Said Rix, now a college football analyst with Fox Sports:

"There was always jokes about Darnell, and what his preference was in college, if I might. Because there was a few incidents of him hanging out with some dudes in the Union and some other stuff." Mohr goes on to ask if other guys ever made fun of Dockett's sexuality to his face, to which Rix replies, "Yes, they did. And he would get defensive at times, as most guys would. But let's just say that there were a few stories of 'Why is Darnell hanging out at this guy's house or this guy's dorm room?'"

Dockett found out about the comments and went ballistic on Twitter (he later deleted his tweets):

I swear I my dead mother @coachrix when I see you that's your ass! Period! Fuck bitch lying on me bobby Bowden didn't like yo sorry ass!

fuck you bitch I heard u lying on me , no one liked your sorry ass ever, when I see u im whooping yo ass on everything I love.

Rix then apologized on his Twitter account, saying "I let it go somewhere it shouldn't have. My bad DD." To which Dockett replied:

@coachrix and fuck yo apology pussy! Say everything u said on radio in my face!

This reminds us all of how many athletes will handle even the suggestion they are gay. Rix was an ass for bringing it up and Dockett's response is to threaten to beat him up. As I've said for years about gay progress in sports — one step forward, a half-step back.
