The IAAF World Track & Field Championships are taking place right now in Moscow. IAAF president Lamine Diack thinks there's no "no problem whatsoever" with Russia's anti-gay laws, and that they must be respected. Diack is also a member of the IOC.

Mr Diack made the comments to reporters ahead of the World Athletics Championship that begin in Moscow at the weekend. He went onto say that "Russian law has to be respected" and that he felt "we're not going to be disturbed by political problems." He concluded by saying that he was "not worried at all."
It's not surprising that Diack would be just fine with Russia's law. In his home country of Senegal, homosexuality is punishable by a fine and one to five years in prison. While so much attention is being paid to Russia's new law, it's other nations — many of which are, like Senegal, in Africa — that have deeply regressive laws that make Russia look like a playground.
