Tom Daley, the openly gay British diver, won a gold medal in the team diving event at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia. Daley dived from the 10-meter board while teammate Rebecca Gallantree did her dives from 3 meters.

"We can't quite believe what just happened," Daley said at a press conference with Gallantree. "It's amazing!" It was the second team gold in history for Britain at the world championships.
The two posted this on Instagram:
Daley's boyfriend, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, tweeted this after:
WORLD CHAMPIONS! @TomDaley1994 and @RGallantree! #GOLD! in the team diving event in #Kazan. Can’t wait to give you the biggest hugs ever!

Daley has said what all LGBT athletes say after the come out — he performs better in his sport once the fear of being in the closet has ended. Winning the team gold is further proof.
