Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted in the NFL, says he wants to give football 'one more shot.'

Sam has been out of football since he abruptly quit the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League last August after playing one game for them. In 2014, the defensive lineman was drafted by the St. Louis Rams and was the team’s final cut after training camp. He was then signed by the Dallas Cowboys to their practice squad but released a few weeks later.

It's unclear whether Sam will get another shot at the NFL. A team would have to invite him to try out and for a player two years removed from being on a team, that's a tough sell. He was invited to an NFL veteran combine last year but no team signed him after that.
