What do you do when you're a benchwarmer for the Monmouth Univ. men's basketball team in the middle of a blowout win? You propose to your teammate, of course.
At least, that's what sophomore guard Dan Pillari decided to do last night, getting on one knee to pop the question to junior forward Greg Noack, according to the Asbury Park Press. From the reaction on social media, we're pretty sure Noack said "yes." At this point we're assuming those crazy kids were just having fun and aren't actually a gay couple. Too bad, they do make a handsome pair.
The guys on the Monmouth bench have made a bit of a name for the school with these fun mid-game diversions all season. The bench even has its own Twitter account @MonmouthBench. You can meet the guys in this CBS Sports video below. They are truly "the bench" on this team: Pillari has played only eight minutes so far this season and Noack hasn't seen any action, according to team stats.
The Monmouth Hawks are 10-4 and in third place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Their current RPI ranking is No. 22, giving them a legit shot at the NCAA tournament.
Hat tip to Anthony Nicodemo.
