Openly gay former NBA player Jason Collins hasn't taken kindly to comments Manny Pacquiao. The boxer recently compared gay people to animals and then hid behind the Bible in his non-apology.

Collins is done.

Good on Collins to call it like it is: bigotry. Whether Pacquiao's backward perspective is based on the Bible or just his personal beliefs instilled by parents or coaches, it's bigotry.

In addition to being a professional boxer, Pacquiao holds a seat in the Phillippines congress and is running for a seat in the nation's senate this year. It's sad that he will carry his bigoted beliefs to the national government and could even win a more powerful this seat espousing these demeaning beliefs. In 2010 he reportedly endorsed two pro-LGBT Democratic politicians, Jerry Brown and Harry Reid.
