Darrion McAlister, a senior center for Marian University in Indianapolis, was named second team AFCA-NAIA All-America for the 2017 season.

From the school:

McAlister was a key part of the offensive line that helped Marian rank fourth in the nation in rushing yards per game (283.2) and number eight in total rushing offense (2832 yards). With his help, the offensive line allowed only nine sacks, which ranked fourth in the country. McAlister's All-America honors comes after being named to the All-MSFA Mideast League First Team for the second-straight year earlier this season.

McAlister came out publicly as gay and was such a huge distraction that Marian went 7-3 (the three loses by a combined 15 points) and won its final two games by a combined 125-0.

I am, of course, kidding about the distraction part. McAlister said he received zero negative reaction from his team and he thrived after coming out. Congratulations on a great season, career and being authentic.
