Earlier this year, professional squash players Rachael Grinham and Jenny Duncalf came out publicly as a couple several months ago in a wonderful interview with Squash Magazine.

The duo are both incredibly accomplished athletes, with four world championships between the two of them. Grinham has been ranked No. 1 in the world, and Duncalf has been ranked as high as No. 2.

The women said they came out publicly to help others. With so many LGBT people in sports afraid to simply be their true selves openly, you can understand their motives and the impact they can have.

“I would never have done it five years ago,” Duncalf told the Yorkshire Post recently, “but I thought if it can help anyone else then it’s worth it. I’m not a big trailblazer of gay people, but I am glad I have done it.”

She talked about that specifically on Twitter back in May:

Thanks to both of these women for helping inspire other people to be their true selves in their personal and professional lives!
