Also new this morning...
The GO! SPACE group highlighted member of the day is Lyndse Hokanson (she/hers), a soccer player and coach who grew up in Crofton, Md. She is currently living in Hamilton, N.Y. In December 2019, she was named Women’s Soccer Head Coach at Colgate University.
If you’re an LGBTQ person in sports looking to connect with others in the community, head over to GO! SPACE to meet and interact with other LGBTQ athletes, or to Equality Coaching Alliance to find other coaches, administrators and other non-athletes in sports.
Highlights from Social Media:
Billie Jean King has an important reminder for her followers and this time included the hashtag for her choice for president and vice president (not that it’s a surprise!):
And Steve Buckley remembers Travis Roy in The Athletic Boston:
Remembering the Travis Roy I knew when he was a little kid hanging around the Civic Center in Portland . . . and celebrating the hero he became later in life. We’ve lost a great man. My column @TheAthleticBOS . . . https://t.co/H17dC7ngBE— Steve Buckley (@BuckinBoston) October 29, 2020
Podcast Du Jour
Nearly every day of the week, Outsports has a new podcast for your enjoyment. Today, it’s 3 Strikes You’re Out with our Ken Schultz talking World Series. Rangers beat writer and friend of the pod Alex Plinck is back this week. If you had told Ken back in February that he’d be talking to a Rangers expert in late October, he says he’d have predicted it would’ve been the most shocking thing in all of 2020. We were all so innocent in the Before Times. Listen here:
