Out pro wrestler and All Elite Wrestling star Toni Storm is a champion once again.

Storm defeated Hikaru Shida to claim her third AEW Women’s World championship at Saturday’s “AEW Full Gear” pay-per-view event. The win places Storm alongside Shida as the only women to hold the top prize of AEW’s women’s division on three separate occasions.

The “Timeless” one secured the victory after a back-and-forth affair that saw Storm resort to some underhanded tactics to dethrone the champion. Storm struck Shida with a shoe to gain the upper hand and put away Shida with a corner hip attack with a metal plate tucked into the back of her tights.

Storm ranks highest among AEW’s out LGBTQ roster members when it comes to total title reigns in the company’s young history. Her win Saturday night put her ahead of Anthony Bowens, who currently holds the AEW Trios championship and previously held the AEW Tag Team championship.

The win also capped off the recent rise of Storm’s profile that coincided with her shift in character to “Timeless” Toni Storm, a persona inspired heavily by Golden Age Hollywood that has proven engaging, intense and humorous.

Outsports congratulates Toni Storm on her victory and for continuing to show that Courage is Contagious.
