Jared McCain had the best game of his college basketball career on Sunday.
It was also the most important.
The freshman guard scored 30 points in the Duke Blue Devils’ second-round (impending) win in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. They beat James Madison in a total domination, 93-55.
He added five rebounds and two assists.
Get off the sidelines and into the game
Our weekly playbook is packed with everything from locker room chatter to pressing LGBTQ sports issues.
McCain has not been shy about painting his fingernails. He’s even at times coordinated the paint, using red and green to celebrate Christmas.
“I understand girls do it,” McCain previously said. “I understand men have started to do it a little more recently, but it was just something I saw.”
He hasn’t been shy about sharing his life on social media.
The freshman played high school basketball in Sacramento.
McCain will continue to be an important contributor in Duke’s Sweet 16 success or failure.
