Caleb Williams is the starting quarterback for the USC Trojans. He is a Heisman Trophy winner. He’s expected to be selected first in the NFL Draft next month.

He also wears pink nail polish and pink lip gloss. He has a pink phone and a pink wallet.

Now some NFL fans are calling him disqualified from quarterbacking an NFL team.

Yet we’ve seen this all before, with Cam Newton.

Real men wear pink. And they dress however they damn well please.

The freak-out over Williams’ appearance at the USC-Kansas NCAA women’s basketball tournament game has gone viral. At the game, cheering on his fellow Trojans, he was seen on screen, pretty in pink.

When Williams’ pink presence at the game was pointed out on social media, a total meltdown by countless NFL fans and armchair quarterbacks ensued.

Just take a gander at the reactions on X to NFL writer Dov Kleiman’s post about Williams’ pink nails and pink phone:

And on and on.

Some macho NFL fans had already been “wondering” about Williams, who’d been labeled not “man enough” by some for freely showing his emotions and tears.

The nonsense that Williams, who has led the USC Trojans to an 18-8 record over the last two seasons, is disqualified from leading an NFL team because he likes pink and isn’t afraid to cry in public is as absurd as the idea that he also must be gay.

If Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin can wear a pink suit on NFL Network, Williams can have a pink phone.

We’ve seen this playbook before from homophobic NFL fans and pundits.

Like Williams, Newton was a Heisman Trophy winner. He was selected No. 1 in the NFL Draft (in 2011).

And like Williams, people questioned his manhood, or even that he was gay, when he broke out his incredibly stylish garb at his game arrivals and press conferences.

Some nuts even claimed Newton was transgender and was cut by “North Carolina” for it.

While Cam Newton at times had some issues on the field, he also had three 11-win seasons, went to the Super Bowl and was the NFL MVP in 2015.

Ninety percent of NFL quarterbacks would love to have those numbers.

Yes, we’ve seen these current reactions to Williams before. It’s nothing new from idiot NFL fans. And whether he’s selected first or 21st in the NFL Draft, he’s got as good a shot as anyone for success in the NFL.
