According to the Associated Press, there has been speculation about Pärson’s sexual orientation for years. SheWired is also on top of the story.

Pärson won Olympic gold in slalom at the 2006 Turin Games. She won six Olympic medals from 2002-2010 and is a seven-time world champion. To give a point of reference, Picaboo Street won three Olympic medals and one world championship; Lindsay Vonn has won two Olympic medals and two world championships.

When Pärson retired from skiing a few months ago, she talked about something new for her. This must have been top-of-mind for her.
